Tranel specializes in regulatory issues involving energy, communications, and public utility law, with over two decades of experience working with landowners; project developers; project owners and off-takers; and advocacy groups at the administrative, state and appellate court levels. Tranel has helped clients navigate the complex regulatory structure governing energy and public utility transactions and disputes.


Property rights
Tranel has represented Montanans across the state on issues from land and property rights to employment related matters. Tranel has worked with landowners on property issues ranging from the neighbor’s fence, to whether a road is public or private. Tranel has worked on employment related matters and handled cases from arbitration through appeals.
Water
Water is a valuable asset and a critical part of Montana’s agriculture and energy economy. Tranel has worked on water rights for clients from Montana Water Court through appeals, and has also represented privately owned and municipal water utilities. Tranel’s personal experience growing up on a ranch in eastern Montana, together with her experience handling water rights across Montana, gives her insight and context to bring optimal representation to clients on this critical matter.
